THE ILLINOIS GROUNDWATER ASSOCIATION

Advancing Groundwater Knowledge Since 1983

Introduction

The IGA seeks to advance the knowledge of groundwater resources in Illinois and functions exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.  Any person interested in the groundwater resources of Illinois can join the IGA.  Our membership includes consulting engineers, geologists and other professionals; faculty and students from colleges and universities; the public; people from federal, state, county, and municipal agencies and organizations; and people from drilling companies and other industries with an interest in groundwater. Our most active members are listed in the IGA Directory of Expertise.

Regular activities of the Association include spring and fall meetings, which consist of speakers, a luncheon, and discussions of current groundwater issues and research.  New presentation ideas for the meetings are always welcome.  The Association also sponsors grants for students conducting groundwater research at an Illinois college or university and has given over $12,000 in direct financial support to date.

Our Next Meeting

The next IGA meeting will be Wednesday, October 22 at Starved Rock Lodge and Conference Center near Utica, Illinois. Additional information will be posted here, provided in upcoming announcements, and included in the fall newsletter.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

As part of the educational mission of the IGA, we want to help you meet your continuing education needs. We work with many groups to acknowledge participation in our spring and fall meetings. For each meeting, our meeting agenda is typically pre-approved to provide continuing education credit to serve the following professionals:

  • Licensed Environmental Health Practitioners (LEHPs) and
  • local health department water program personnel [as specified in the Illinois Department of Public Health, Local Health Department Grant Protection Rules, Section 615.320 (c) (2)].

We also serve professions with voluntary continuing education programs and can provide documentation for other professionals including:

  • Professional Engineers.

Please let us know if you don't see your profession or certification program listed here. We want to improve your continuing education benefits!
